Where Dates Come From
By Kathy Sandstone
Ever heard of the date ? The fruit not what you traditionally think of as the date. Much of the U.S. has not. When someone discovers the date, they are often surprised at how tasty the date is. This is especially true if it is a medjool date. The medjool date is considered the king of dates. When people taste the medjool date for the first time they often try to findout where the date comes from. They want to see what the bush or tree looks like. The date actually comes from a palm. The date palm is actually more akin to a grass than a tree and is called a palm, not a palm tree, but often palms are called palmed trees.
